John:
With Alex's graduation, John has officially
"retired" from all of the high school support duties.
As you may know he had been drafted to the office of president of the band
association at the beginning of the school year. That in
itself is a big job, but he was already VP of the PTSA in
charge of the concession stands (a HUGE job). John somehow
managed all of this and managed to build a beautiful deck in our
backyard for the graduation party. On top of all that...he has a full time paying
job too!
Lauren:
If you thought I had dropped off the face of the earth, I did.
I've been neglecting this page for quite some time, but now that I'm
"retired" from the PTSA secretarial duties, band
fundraising, art docent for Maddie's school and helping in the high
school's concession stands, I hope to spend a little more time
updating this page. I used up my 15 minutes of fame, dabbling in local politics, speaking
against a real creep that was trying to pull the charter from
the high school. I didn't
take it lightly and ended up getting a group of parents together to
protest and call for his resignation and ended up on the
evening news stations and the local newspaper a few times.
I'll keep you posted as that issue comes up.
Alex: Alex
has....GRADUATED!!!! Of course I took a
million pictures of
the graduation. He was so proud of himself, but no where near
as proud as I was. He had a real tough last semester and had
to pull quite a few "all nighters", but he did it.
We had a great backyard party,
with a special appearance by the Helix HS bagpipe band to signify his graduation and our
retirement from the music and PTSA boards. Alex plans to
attend Grossmont College in the fall, but his first order of
business is to find a job! If you want to see video of the
pipe band's surprise backyard appearance, go to www.youtube.com
and put "ljlauren" in the search box.
Madison: Madison
had a great year as a 5th grader and is now moving on to
middle school She is very excited and nervous
about that. I posted pictures of her 5th grade promotion on
the Scrapbook page. Maddie will spend the summer going to her
favorite day camp. Besides that, she has quite a
busy social schedule, visiting friends, going to parties and
"hanging out". During the school year she helped us with the
high school concessions stands, working the front windows, taking orders, making
change (without a register!), and helping with the clean up.
She is quite a good worker! In her spare time she is taking piano lessons,
plays the clarinet, and loves to play with her new little kitten.
